COVID-19 Update

We are closely monitoring the status of the recent COVID-19 outbreak. A final decision will be made in May – June on whether we will be canceling our upcoming July mission trip.

How can you help during these uncertain times?

These are uncertain times, but the smiling children of Colombia still need our help. So, how can you help the orphaned and abandoned children at the home in Medellín? We ask that you pray for the physical needs of the home to be continually met, and that the children and staff would remain healthy.

By signing up for iGive and Amazon Smile and choosing The Emiliani Project, you can deliver real money to the children of Colombia. Signing up is easy (just 2 easy steps!), and a portion of every online purchase you make goes to our cause.

Click the logos below to sign up for iGive and Amazon Smile!

Finally, we prayerfully ask that you consider making a donation directly to The Emiliani Project via our website as we continue to build the new children’s home in Caldas, Colombia.

Upcoming Child Sponsorship Program

We are getting closer than ever to opening up our children’s home in Caldas, Colombia! Be on the lookout for our Child Sponsorship Program to begin soon. This program will allow you, your friends, business, class, team, or small group to sponsor boys like the ones in the picture to the right so we can support them in their new home in Caldas.

Fresh Updates from the Home in Caldas!

Windows have been installed in one of our new buildings!

A new set of cement stairs has been constructed leading to the central, pre-existing building on the property.

The road to the home has been improved, with fresh concrete poured to form a complete driveway.

We could not have made this progress without the generous donations from all of our supporters! Thanks to them we are three steps closer to having this home open and available to more kids!

Volunteer Spotlight: Debbie Monroe

This month, we want to start introducing you all to some of our amazing volunteers. We are so thankful for all they do, and we hope to encourage others to join our cause!

Meet Debbie! Debbie first joined The Emiliani Project in 2016 after hearing about it from her husband. Since then, she’s been to Colombia with us four times! Over the years, Debbie has contributed to our teams who built our second bathroom facility in Caldas and painted the new dining facility. Seeing so much progress happen in one week is one of Debbie’s favorite parts of serving with The Emiliani Project. She is excited for the day when kids are able to move into the new home in Caldas. Another one of Debbie’s favorite parts of coming to Colombia with us is playing games with all of the children at the existing home in Bello! Every time she has visited Colombia, Debbie has brought her two young daughters with her. Through coming to serve with The Emiliani Project, Debbie says that her daughters have learned so much about being helpful, making friendships despite language barriers, and being flexible in a new environment.

We are so grateful for Debbie and all she does for The Emiliani Project!

Emiliani was on Palomar Live!

On March 12, the President and Co-Founder of The Emiliani Project Chuck Navarrete was interviewed on Palomar Live a student-produced live morning television show from Palomar College. There was lots of good questions and answers and footage of the work site during the interview. If you want to know more about the goals and history of The Emiliani Project, don’t miss this video. End of Year Giving

We ask that you prayerfully consider including The Emiliani Project in your end of year donations. As always, 100% of your donations go straight toward the orphaned and abandoned children of Colombia. NO donations are used to cover administrative costs.

Be sure to like and follow our pages on Instagram (@theemilianiproject) and Facebook (@EmilianiProject) for regular updates on our work, and for more photos of the children at the hogar!

In Case You Missed It

On December 6, The Emiliani Project had the privilege of hosting a Christmas party for 90 excited children at the new children’s home project in Caldas, Colombia. They were treated to food, games, fun, presents, and a visit from Santa Claus himself. We are truly grateful for everyone who made this party happen!

Coming Up In 2020

Upcoming Mission Trips

We have two mission trips coming up in 2020. Volunteers will have the opportunity to either serve at the existing orphanage in Medellín, Colombia, or assist in the construction of the new orphanage in Caldas, Colombia. Both trips are amazing opportunities to see the work firsthand, and get involved in making a very real difference in the lives of hundreds of orphaned and abandoned children.

For more information, or to register, visit this link!

2020 Mission Trip Dates:

  • March 14 – March 22
  • July 11 – July 19

We hope that you’ll join us for one of our trips!

Child Sponsorship Program

The Emiliani Project is hoping to launch a new initiative: The opportunity to sponsor a child at the new children’s home being built in Caldas. Sponsorship will include providing for the costs of living for a child staying at the orphanage. Be on the lookout for updates in our newsletter, and on our social media pages!

It’s Not Too Late to Sign Up for iGive!

It’s not too late to sign up for iGive for your holiday shopping. What is iGive? iGive is an incredible service that gives money back to The Emiliani Project for every purchase you make online. iGive has thousands of linked stores, including Walmart. Emiliani has already received over $1000 of real cash back from our volunteers using this service. As always, 100% of that money goes towards serving the orphaned and abandoned children of Colombia.

New Sponsor a Child Program!

The Emiliani Project is now offering direct sponsorship of our children! We are now offering full or partial sponsorships of individual children in need of your help. We are planning to move 30 kids into our new home in January 2020, but we need to find sponsors for them first. Visit our Sponsor a Child page to learn more about how you can become a sponsor and connect one-on-one with your sponsored child.

2nd Annual College Preparation Program has Begun

The Emiliani Project is a family.  Like a family, our commitment to our kids extends beyond the teenage years and the need for youth formation.  As our kids get older, our mission is to provide them with a pathway to success in life. Education is key to that success, and so we are committed to supporting our kids beyond their highschool years and into college.
Thanks to the Bonnie Jean Foundation we have continued a private college preparation tutoring program that will prepare our kids for their government funding assistance and college admissions exams beginning in the 9th grade and continuing into the final days of their senior year.  The program will provide private tutoring in subjects where students need special attention, exam taking strategies to improve test-taking performance and practice exams every year of highschool. These kids will be as prepared as we can make them to go get those scholarships and get into the local universities.
Our Emiliani Education Director will be monitoring student progress through a variety of metrics in order to improve the delivery of the tutoring services.  If you’re interested in participating in the program and/or would like to learn more about sponsoring our education program for 2020, please Contact Us. Every child deserves a dream!

March Mission Trip a Success!

Our latest group of exceptional volunteers has just returned from Colombia in what was a great experience for us, the kids and the volunteers themselves.  Many of our March volunteers were first-timers with Emiliani and some have been with our family for years. Everyone will be coming back, we have no doubt of that.

Thank you so much to everyone who made the sacrifice and came down to join us.  The children and the staff were tremendously positively impacted by your stay. What a great group of warm hearts!  Thank you!

New Home Opening – Summer 2018!

The day has finally come.  The Emiliani Project will be opening the new Hogar de Cristo in the Summer of 2018.  The home will be opened to 30 children while the completion of the remainder of the home continues.  This marks a very big step for our Emiliani family and for 30 kids that will have the opportunity to move from the streets of Colombia into a warm and loving home environment.  Thank you to everyone who has helped make all of this possible, and with your continued support, we will eventually open the home to a total of 160 children.

The Emiliani Project

Soon we will be seeking sponsorships for each of the 30 children coming to the new Hogar de Cristo.  Sponsorship opportunities will be announced in January 2018.  For more information, or to advise us of your interest in sponsoring one of our kids, please Contact Us.

This is an exciting time!  Thank you everyone!

August Mission Trip a Huge Success!

The Emiliani Project hosted our largest ever mission trip this past August.  Thirty six volunteers traveled to Colombia to live and work with our kids and on the new Hogar de Cristo home construction.  The group worked incredibly hard at both homes, and it was amazing how much we accomplished in just 9 days!

Thank you so much to everyone who made the sacrifice and came down to join us.  The children and the staff were tremendously positively impacted by your stay.  What a great group of warm hearts!  Thank you!

Emiliani School Scholarships

The Emiliani Project is a family.  Like a family, our commitment to our kids extends beyond the teenage years and the need for youth formation.  As our kids get older, our mission is to provide them with a pathway to success in life.  Education is key to that success, and so we are committed to supporting our kids beyond their highschool years and into college.   To do that we need your help.  We have children with the brains and the talent to be accepted to Universities, but we need scholarship money to pay for their tuition, school supplies and books.  In many cases a child can attend a University in Colombia for less than $1,000 a year, and the return on investment is great.

If you’re interested in helping one of our kids transition into college by offering to help pay part of these expenses, please Contact Us.  Every child deserves a dream!

The Emiliani Project Coffee

If you drink coffee or know someone who does, then please consider The Emiliani Project coffee as a great way to drink specialty coffee while you support a great cause.  We import Colombian coffee grown by farmers local to the area where we work with our kids.  Volunteers here in the U.S. roast it, bag it and help us distribute it all over the country.  100% of the proceeds of the coffee goes directly to support our kids and the construction of our new children’s home.

We offer three roasts: medium, full city plus and dark roast.  Each of our roasts has the image of one of our kids on the front of the bag, along with their individual story on the back.  It’s specialty coffee, so it’s some of the best…and it makes a great gift!

You can buy our coffee in our online Coffee Store.  If you’re interested in learning more about how you can help us market and distribute the coffee, please Contact Us or send us an email at coffee@emilianiproject.org.  We’d love to have your help.  Remember, we are a 100% volunteer force!

Construction on the Kitchen and Dining to Begin in June

The Emiliani Project

The Bring Home the Kids fundraising campaign was a huge success!  We raised over $80,000 to begin the construction of the kitchen and dining room for the new home in Caldas, Colombia.  Materials for the building will be delivered to the new home site in June, just in time for our July Mission Trip volunteers to help build the structure.

The Emiliani Project

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out with the campaign.  A lot of you put a lot of time and effort into making it happen.  We couldn’t have done it without you!  Thank you!

We will be posting updates of the construction effort to Facebook throughout the summer, so please stay tuned to our Facebook Page for more information.  We still need to buy a lot of commercial kitchen and dining room equipment.

Please Contact Us to learn more about how you can help or simply Donate and put “Kitchen and Dining Room” in the notes of the Donation Page.
