March Mission Trip a Success!

Our latest group of exceptional volunteers has just returned from Colombia in what was a great experience for us, the kids and the volunteers themselves.  Many of our March volunteers were first-timers with Emiliani and some have been with our family for years. Everyone will be coming back, we have no doubt of that.

Thank you so much to everyone who made the sacrifice and came down to join us.  The children and the staff were tremendously positively impacted by your stay. What a great group of warm hearts!  Thank you!

2018 Open Mission Trip Dates

We still have plenty of openings if you’d like to join us for a Mission Trip to Colombia.  Open trip dates are as follows:

May 26 to June 3, 2018

July 28 to August 5, 2018

All of our Mission Trips offer you the opportunity to work with our kids, participate in the daily operation of the home, roll up your sleeves and work at our new home construction site, and to just have some fun with the children while experiencing the beautiful country of Colombia by taking them to local events, festivals and activities.  It’s an opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of children who need your help while at the same time making a positive impact on your own life. Emiliani College Preparation has Begun

The Emiliani Project is a family.  Like a family, our commitment to our kids extends beyond the teenage years and the need for youth formation.  As our kids get older, our mission is to provide them with a pathway to success in life. Education is key to that success, and so we are committed to supporting our kids beyond their highschool years and into college.

Thanks to the Bonnie Jean Foundation we have begun a private college preparation tutoring program that will prepare our kids for their government funding assistance and college admissions exams beginning in the 9th grade and continuing into the final days of their senior year.  The program will provide private tutoring in subjects where students need special attention, exam taking strategies to improve test-taking performance and practice exams every year of highschool. These kids will be as prepared as we can make them to go get those scholarships and get into the local universities.

We have appointed a new Emiliani Education Director who will be monitoring student progress through a variety of metrics in order to improve the delivery of the tutoring services.  If you’re interested in participating in the program and/or would like to learn more about sponsoring our education program for 2019, please Contact Us. Every child deserves a dream!

New Home Opening – Summer 2018!

The day has finally come.  The Emiliani Project will be opening the new Hogar de Cristo in the Summer of 2018.  The home will be opened to 30 children while the completion of the remainder of the home continues.  This marks a very big step for our Emiliani family and for 30 kids that will have the opportunity to move from the streets of Colombia into a warm and loving home environment.  Thank you to everyone who has helped make all of this possible, and with your continued support, we will eventually open the home to a total of 160 children.

The Emiliani Project

Soon we will be seeking sponsorships for each of the 30 children coming to the new Hogar de Cristo.  Sponsorship opportunities will be announced in January 2018.  For more information, or to advise us of your interest in sponsoring one of our kids, please Contact Us.

This is an exciting time!  Thank you everyone!

August Mission Trip a Huge Success!

The Emiliani Project hosted our largest ever mission trip this past August.  Thirty six volunteers traveled to Colombia to live and work with our kids and on the new Hogar de Cristo home construction.  The group worked incredibly hard at both homes, and it was amazing how much we accomplished in just 9 days!

Thank you so much to everyone who made the sacrifice and came down to join us.  The children and the staff were tremendously positively impacted by your stay.  What a great group of warm hearts!  Thank you!

Emiliani School Scholarships

The Emiliani Project is a family.  Like a family, our commitment to our kids extends beyond the teenage years and the need for youth formation.  As our kids get older, our mission is to provide them with a pathway to success in life.  Education is key to that success, and so we are committed to supporting our kids beyond their highschool years and into college.   To do that we need your help.  We have children with the brains and the talent to be accepted to Universities, but we need scholarship money to pay for their tuition, school supplies and books.  In many cases a child can attend a University in Colombia for less than $1,000 a year, and the return on investment is great.

If you’re interested in helping one of our kids transition into college by offering to help pay part of these expenses, please Contact Us.  Every child deserves a dream!

The Emiliani Project Coffee

If you drink coffee or know someone who does, then please consider The Emiliani Project coffee as a great way to drink specialty coffee while you support a great cause.  We import Colombian coffee grown by farmers local to the area where we work with our kids.  Volunteers here in the U.S. roast it, bag it and help us distribute it all over the country.  100% of the proceeds of the coffee goes directly to support our kids and the construction of our new children’s home.

We offer three roasts: medium, full city plus and dark roast.  Each of our roasts has the image of one of our kids on the front of the bag, along with their individual story on the back.  It’s specialty coffee, so it’s some of the best…and it makes a great gift!

You can buy our coffee in our online Coffee Store.  If you’re interested in learning more about how you can help us market and distribute the coffee, please Contact Us or send us an email at coffee@emilianiproject.org.  We’d love to have your help.  Remember, we are a 100% volunteer force!

Construction on the Kitchen and Dining to Begin in June

The Emiliani Project

The Bring Home the Kids fundraising campaign was a huge success!  We raised over $80,000 to begin the construction of the kitchen and dining room for the new home in Caldas, Colombia.  Materials for the building will be delivered to the new home site in June, just in time for our July Mission Trip volunteers to help build the structure.

The Emiliani Project

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out with the campaign.  A lot of you put a lot of time and effort into making it happen.  We couldn’t have done it without you!  Thank you!

We will be posting updates of the construction effort to Facebook throughout the summer, so please stay tuned to our Facebook Page for more information.  We still need to buy a lot of commercial kitchen and dining room equipment.

Please Contact Us to learn more about how you can help or simply Donate and put “Kitchen and Dining Room” in the notes of the Donation Page.

February 2017 Mission Trip a Success!

A total of 18 Mission Volunteers travelled to Colombia this past week to work with our kids and to help with the construction of the new home.  They helped us kick off a new English program for the children, hosted art classes, dance classes, worked in the kitchen, did maintenance around the home, took the children on a field trip, and spent the week making 170 new little friends.  At the new home site the volunteers installed new flooring in two of our new buildings and finished painting the exteriors.  It was an amazing trip and we accomplished so much.  Thank you to everyone who participated and everyone that helped make their participation possible.Emiliani Mission Trip

Bring Home the Kids Campaign
The Emiliani Project is well underway on our Bring Home the Kids fundraising campaign design to raise $100,000 for the construction of the commercial kitchen and dining room facility at our new children’s home. Completion of this facility is the final piece of the puzzle for getting this home open. Once the home is 100% built, we will have a capacity of 160 children. However, there is such a demand for space that we will be opening the home early with an initial group of 30 children. To do this, we need this facility built! To date, we have raised over 31% of our goal, but we need to get to get to 100%. If you wish to donate to the campaign, you can do so here: Bring Home the Kids. Or, if you wish to volunteer to be an ambassador for the campaign, where you get your own crowd-funding page, please Contact Us. We set up the page for you and make it Facebook/internet ready for you to send links to your friends, family and co-workers. It’s super easy and a fun way to engage the people you love in a good cause.

What a Great 2016
2016 is in the books and was a great year for The Emiliani Project. We had two successful mission trips down to our homes in Colombia; we build two more buildings at the new children’s home; we had a very long and fruitful campaign summer where we traveled to Orlando, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and throughout southern California speaking about our project; and a successful 2nd annual golf tournament. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of our amazing volunteers that made all of it possible. Without you, we are nothing. We are so incredibly humbled by the outpour of support we received this past year. And, we are especially hopeful for a great 2017!

Second Annual Golf Tournament and August Mission Trip Recap

Second Annual Golf Tournament

Emiliani-Charity-Golf-2016The Emiliani Project will be hosting its second annual charity golf tournament on Monday October 17, at The Crossings Golf Course in Carlsbad.  The event promises to be a memorable day with prizes, silent auction and magnificent views of the ocean and surrounding hills.  Golfers of all skill levels are invited, and we encourage groups of two or four.  Lunch will be provided with each round of play, and the day will conclude with a dinner and a short program about The Emiliani Project.  We are already receiving sponsorship offers from community businesses: if your business would like to participate through sponsorship or offering something for the Silent Auction, please Contact Us.  Be part of a great day on the course, and part of the work we are doing to change the lives of orphaned and abandoned children here in the U.S. and abroad. You can register for the event and sign up to be a corporate sponsor on our Tournament Webpage.

Volunteers needed!!  Please consider giving some of your time on the day of our golf tournament, to assist with registrations and the post-golf presentation where we will award prizes and give a short presentation about the impact we are having in our work.

August Colombia Mission Trip Update

This past August we had 12 volunteers join us in travelling to the homes in Medellin, Colombia.  In each instance, we were inspired by the example and witness of these volunteers, as they served the kids in the home, and/or pitched in to help with construction on the home which is currently underway.   Our volunteers also received richly in return – as they time they spent offering their time and talent to join us in our work was deeply meaningful.

Volunteers-Sept-for-Web2

Recently Pope Francis canonized St. Teresa of Kolkata, the foundress of the Missionaries of Charity.  Her name-saint is St. Teresa the Little Flower who wrote in her reflections that “she would spend her heaven doing good on earth”.  These two great women of prayer and charity encourage us in our work – and we invite you to consider one of our upcoming Mission trips.  Our next mission trip is in Spring 2017, and we invite you to consider joining us on one of those adventures of the heart.

For more information, visit our Mission Trips page or contact Chuck Navarrete at: missions@emilianiproject.org or (760) 470-0425.

2016 Mission Cooperative Update

The Emiliani Project team travelled across the United States this past Summer, speaking at parishes and raising awareness of our mission and our work.   This year, we were invited to speak at parishes in Florida, Texas, California and Hawaii.  In these speaking engagements, we have the opportunity to speak to many people in formal settings, giving testimony about what inspired the work of The Emiliani Project, and the various ways in which we invite people to join us in our work.  We were blessed by the priests and religious that hosted us, by the prayers of those who listened to us, by the generosity of many new benefactors, and had many inquiries about our mission trips. Thank you to all who donated through the mission cooperative!

We are expanding our efforts and making preparations now to reach even more parishes next year, in more parts of the country.  Please pray that we may receive invitations from other dioceses, so we can continue to get our message out to people like you.

Emiliani Project Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Mark your calendars!  The Emiliani Project will be hosting its second annual charity golf tournament on Monday October 17.  The event will take place at The Crossings at Carlsbad golf course, a beautiful golf course with views of the ocean and surrounding county, nestled in the heart of North County San Diego.

We would like to get the word out to as many golfers as possible, to join us for a fun day of supporting a good cause.  These events are fun because golfers of all skill levels are invited and encouraged to participate – and there will be contests, prizes and memories to be made.  Additionally, should your business would like to sponsor the event through donations for our silent auction or participating with hospitality or sampling-related giveaways, we are looking for companies willing to support.  Dinner following play will be provided with a short program about the Emiliani Project, and what we are achieving to change the lives of children here in the U.S. and abroad.

You can register for the event on our tournament website at emilianiproject.org/golf-tournament/

April Mission Trip & Upcoming August Mission Trip

The Emiliani Project recently traveled with a group of volunteers to Medellín to work in the Hogar and to help with construction of the new home.  These volunteers were inspired by our work, and the trip concluded with a festive BBQ at the hogar for the kids and volunteers, followed by a special field trip with the kids to the Medellín aquarium and and planetarium.  Thanks to our volunteers for making this trip such a success: these volunteers raised more money than was needed to cover their travel expenses, so the balance was donated to the Hogar for the operation of the home.  Thank you for your generosity!

Our Summer 2016 Mission trip departs for Colombia soon.  From July 30 to August 7th, volunteers will be joining us in our work at the Hogar (the home) working with the children, and also at the new home which is under construction, helping lend a hand in the project’s completion. For many, this trip is not only an opportunity to experience the work of The Emiliani Project first hand, but can be a very spiritually nourishing experience. Please pray for the volunteers and we thank them for their service to the children.

If you are interested in future Missions trips, please contact Chuck Navarette at missions@emilianiproject.org.  We will be announcing dates soon for the next trip.

Our New Website is Now Live!

The Emiliani Project launched a new website recently, to better showcase our mission, serve the needs of our organization, and to raise awareness as our outreach has grown to people around the country and indeed around the world.  The new website now features a Spanish language site.  Our thanks to OC Sites for their generous donation of the project time to create and launch our new website.  Please visit us and see all the improvements at www.emilianiproject.org.
